New Cuisinart - Thelma's Scone Recipe

Felt like baking today because my new Cuisinart came a few days ago. I love Amazon! Especially Amazon Prime!!!

Anyway, this brand new machine has been sitting on my kitchen counter and today was the first day I felt like making Thelma's Scones.

Prep time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes

The Recipe:

Blend in Cuisinart until well mixed
2 -1/2 c. flour
1/4 c. sugar
1 T. Baking Powder
1/2 t. salt

Cut a 1/4 lb. unsalted butter into 8 pieces and p lace them on top of flour mixture in the Cuisinart. Process until butter is in small particles and integrated into flour mixture.

Through feeding tube, pour milk mixture (2/3 cup mixture of half and half and milk) while processing until a ball forms. (if it doesn't become a ball, add a little more milk).

On a floured board, pat the dough into a ball and cut into 2 pieces. Flatten both with your fingers and cut each into 6 pieces.

Bake at 425 for 15 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet. While scones are baking (they should be light brown when ready) prepare a clean dish towel under a rack. Place them on the rack when they are finished baking. Cover them with the rest of the towel. Wait 20 minutes before serving. These can be frozen and heated in the microwave. Yields 12 Scones.

Taste one and put the rest in the freezer for later.

Once they have cooled, place into a quart size plastic ziplock bag and freeze. To serve, remove from freezer, wrap one in a napkin and microwave for 25 seconds on medium. Serve with homemade jelly, jam or honey. Stonewall Kitchen has the most delicious jars of jams and Roasted Garlic Onion Jam is my favorite. Go to www.stonewallkitchen.com where everything is great!
